A Telehealth appointment means you save yourself time by not having to travel to and from the appointment. Following your appointment we’ll send you an email with information about what was covered in the appointment, and any homework you need to do 🙂
Options include:
A Telehealth / video appointment
- When we book this in, you will be sent an email confirming the date, time and appointment type.
- A link to the appointment will be very clear in the email. All you need to do is click on here at the time of the appointment and you will automatically be connected with your physio at our clinic. You can do this on a phone, laptop or tablet.
- There is no need to download any software. It comes out of our practice management software, which is safe and secure.
A phone call
- If you prefer we can call you on the phone.
How effective are Telehealth appointments?
Research shows online consultations can be just as effective as face-to-face.
New patients:
- We get 80 to 90% of the information we need to make our diagnosis just by listening and asking questions. We are able to observe posture, daily activities and movement via the camera.
- We have models that we can show you. We can teach you pelvic floor exercises and give advice and education so that you can start your rehabilitation and get back to doing the things you enjoy.
Follow-up appointments:
- In 2020 we continued to see many of our current patients for online appointments during lockdown. This worked well.
- We are happy to see any of our patients online. We can check in with how you are going, progress your exercises, and keep you motivated on your path to recovery.
- Research shows online appointments can be just as effective as face to face sessions. Because a lot of what we do involves advice and education for self-management, we can easily do that via phone or video. Don’t miss out just because you can’t get to see us in person.
What should I do to prepare for it?
There isn’t a lot you need to do – make sure you are in a comfortable and private place, and test your audio to make sure it works.
You may want to have a family/whānau member, or friend with you. That’s fine – just tell the physio when you join that they are there.
You may also like to write a list of what you want to talk about and have a pen and paper handy to write anything down if you need to. We will email you a written copy of your exercises and other self management strategies after the appointment, so it’s ok not to make notes.
How long is the appointment, and how much does it cost?
Our online appointments are the same length as our in person ones. We have an hour for the first session to allow time for a full assessment, advice and education, and prescribing of exercises. The follow-up sessions are normally half an hour. The cost is the same as a face to face appointment. It takes us just as long, in fact often longer, to prepare beforehand and to follow-up after Telehealth sessions.
Our receptionist will email an invoice to you after the appointment. We appreciate prompt payment. Payment details will be clear on the invoice, and we ask that you make a note of your name and the invoice number on the payment so we know who it’s from.
